Australian Idol reject Tarisai rocks on

AFTER finding fame alongside a bunch of fledgling singers, Australian Idol reject Tarisai Vushe has hand-picked a group of veteran rock musos for her new band.

The pop diva - who was branded a fake by judges on the Channel 10 show - has been busy rehearsing at Manly Rugby Club ahead of the group's first big gig at The Roxy in Parramatta on March 7.

Former Choirboys guitarist Brad Carr - who wrote the hit song Run To Paradise - and drummer Peter Bilney, from the Normie Rowe band, are both in the group which is called Tarisai and Band.

Also playing with the line-up are bassists Pat Frisina from Brave'n'Crazy and Stephen Short from Hump, guitarist Jack Demerjian from Arax and latin musician Oles Yurakov from Bandolero.

"I just needed a band for my live shows,'' 20-year-old Vushe said.

"They're really experienced and really committed.

"Kids are awesome but I just really wanted commitment and serious people.''

Alex Haddad, from Legends Music & Entertainment, contacted Vushe after her idol performance and offered to help.

"I put this band together for Tarisai,'' he said.

"I found her to have really strong vocals. They work really well together.

"They do roots and blues and old school rock. They also do covers and a few originals of Brad's.''

Haddad, who has worked with Dannii Minogue, INXS and Public Enemy, is also an actor who has appeared on the SBS comedy Fat Pizza.
