Manitowoc man to tour Australia with Kelly Clarkson
MANITOWOC — Bob Madison made the decision to open Mad About Music the moment he found himself at the wrong end of one of Madonna's screaming fits.
It was the summer of 2006 and Madison was in Europe working with the crew on her Confessions Tour when the singer threw a fit about a slippery dance floor.
"I thought, you know, there's gotta be a better way to make a living than this," Madison, 45, said.
So after decades of traveling the world doing lighting, carpentry, sound and stage work for big name bands, he came home to Manitowoc to set up shop with his wife, Mary.
Though his intentions were good, it seems Madison can't quite get away from his life of touring.
On Monday, Feb. 25, he'll board a plane for Australia to stage manage Kelly Clarkson's tour. For a month and a half, he'll travel to Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne, before jetting off to England, Sweden and Finland. This venture is a follow-up to a three-month summer run last year with the American Idol winner.
