Meet our 'American Idol' judges

We'd love to be able to tell you that thousands of people crammed into a mammoth stadium and waited long hours in hopes of nabbing a precious golden ticket to be on our first-ever "American Idol" Readers Judging Panel.

But that would be a lie.

On the other hand, we did receive so many vivid and engaging applications from "Idol" worshippers throughout the East Bay that, as we struggled to whittle down the field, we became more dizzy than Paula Abdul.

The six people finally admitted into our exclusive dawg pound represent a cross-section of the demographically diverse "American Idol" audience "" from an exuberant grade schooler to a feisty senior citizen. They include the most rabid of fans and even an amazing teen vocalist who nearly cracked the "Idol" Top 24.

From now until the "Idol" finale, they'll make like Simon Cowell and provide witty, snark-laced critiques that will appear weekly in these pages and Tuesday night on my TV Freak blog at www.ibabuzz.com/ tvfreak.

They will be joined, on occasion, by opinionated guest judges pulled from our application pool. And you are certainly welcome to toss in your two cents, as well. The livelier the conversation the better.

But before we get to that, here come da judges "¦
