American Idol Audition dates

AUDITION FOR "IDOL." Local singers who want to be the next "American Idol" now have a date: Aug. 19. The show will hold auditions for the 2009 season that day at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J., Fox announced yesterday. Other audition sites include San Francisco (July 17), Louisville, Ky., (July 21), Phoenix (July 25); Salt Lake City (July 29), Kansas City, Mo. (Aug. 8), and Jacksonville, Fla. (Aug. 13), Newsday's Verne Gay reports. Also, for the first time, auditions will be held outside the continental United States - Aug. 2, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
