After weeks of gruelling auditions and emotional elimination rounds, the Canadian Idol Season 6 finalists have been decided. Host Ben Mulroney announced Wednesday night the two women and eight men from across Canada moving on to the show's top 10.

Here are the Canadian Idol top 10:

Adam Castelli, 26

A carpenter from Hamilton, Ont., this rocker has become known for his ambitious song choices on the Idol stage, which hasn't always gone over well with the judges.

"When you get up there you're just not rising to what your intentions were," judge Jake Gold said of his last performance, a rendition of Bobby Darin's If I Were a Carpenter.

Motto: Carpe Diem.

Inspiration: Bruce Springsteen

Mark Day, 20

This natural-born performer from Portugal Cove, Nfld., has proved himself worthy of top-10 status with Canadian audiences, even though in competition shows the judges pegged him better suited to the world of comedy than the music industry. Judge Zack Werner went so far as to say if he were given Mark's 'Greatest Hits' album, he'd use it as a coaster.

Motto: Even though I may look like the boy next door, I'm coming to ring your doorbell.

Inspiration: George Bennard

Mitch MacDonald, 22

Another carpenter/musician, MacDonald hails from Port Hood in Cape Breton, N.S. He made the top 10 cut even after Werner compared his version of Blue to sounding more like Alvin and the Chipmunks than Bobby and the Jay Hawks.

Motto: You only live once.

Inspiration: East Coast musician Gordie Sampson

Mookie Morris, 18

The lanky, soulful performer from Toronto has been praised consistently by the judges, marking him the one to beat.

"I do feel like when I'm looking at you (I'm) looking at potentially the next Canadian Idol," Gold said after Morris performed Valerie by the Zutons on Monday night's competition show.

Motto: No pain, no gain.

Inspiration: Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon

Sebastian Pigott, 25

Also a Toronto contender, Sebastian Pigott -- an actor and writer -- put his performing chops to work in his last competition show, blowing the audience away with a harmonica-accompanied, fly-away version of Sam Cooke's Bring it On Home to Me. He beat out his musically gifted older brother Oliver for a spot in the top 10.

"You are the first real sex symbol we've had on this show," judge Farley Flex said to Pigott.

Motto: There is no giant foot trying to squash me.

Inspiration: David Bowie

Earl Stevenson, 23

A Dave Matthews sound-a-like, this bluesy musician from Lloydminster, Alta., was recently called one of the most unique guys to ever appear on the Idol stage by Gold after he sang a groovy rendition of Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone.

Motto: Let others beat to their own drum.

Inspiration: Loverboy

Katherine St-Laurent, 17

The youngest contender in the Idol top 10, this petite bombshell from Otterburn Park, Que., has been hailed as one to beat with her booming vocal chops and sunny persona.

"Eyes closed, eyes open, you're hot," Flex told her on Tuesday night's competition show.

Motto: Do your best and have fun.

Inspiration: Her parents and friends
