Filipino singers whether professionals or amateurs are wowing audiences across the globe.

A Filipino-Australian has yet to conquer the stage in Australia but that is not stopping them from trying their luck.

Since the Australian Idol started in 2003, many Filipino-Australians are determined to sing.

"Fil-Aus are natural! They don't need this. We don't need that. We just sing our hearts out," said Jimmel Lewis.

In Sydney, the auditions were held over three days. Those who were not given the full green light were back again the next day.

"I came on Saturday. I got a maybe from them, so I just came back to make sure I get in. I decided I'd come back to make my point that I want to be here," said a participant named Catherine.

Catherine said singing comes naturally to Filipino-Australians.

"You go to the Philippines, there is karaoke everywhere, so it shows that they love music," said Alex Dizon.

So now, it's now a matter for Australia to decide.

"It is time. It is time judges! Let someone thru that's Asian!" said Chrysula Tsoupis.
