Australian Idol's Ricki-Lee Coulter to move to Los Angeles
SHE'S got the booty to take on Beyonce, now Ricki-Lee Coulter has revealed she's heading stateside to start a new chapter of her pop life.
the Australian Idol favourite told Confidential yesterday she plans to put her personal dramas behind her and begin next year based in Los Angeles for two months.
While reluctant to detail her marriage breakdown to husband of one year Jamie Babbington - after announcing the split this month - Coulter confessed she was "looking forward to starting again".
Working towards the writing trip in January, the driven singer will power through the final weeks as a mentor on Idol, promoting a singles compilation album and endless gigs before jetting to the US.
If the split is shaking her privately, the positive performer is not showing it, bubbling about her next solo moves.
"The anticipation is so exciting," Coulter said. "Starting (an album) anew is the best part of the process."
Her fashion role, as ambassador for Hold Me Tight shape wear, fits the curvy star's fit-and-fabulous attitude to a tee. She has previously admitted battling depression, but those "dark clouds" haven't returned after industry executive moves to have her lose weight.
"I can't tell you the number of times people have told me if I just lost 10kg I could go much further in my career," she said, posing up yesterday. "But I'm determined to show them - and other average-size women - it is doable and possible."
The towering brunette says the pressure to slim down to the idea of petite pop princess "never gets me down."
Coulter's gruelling schedule keeps the singer on her toes, but a rare day off - before a Melbourne Cup appearance - will give her the chance to ride out her recent relationship stresses, on a weekend road trip along the Great Ocean Road.
