Idol wants to call Australia home

Kiwi singer Madam Parker says she wants to make Australia her permanent home with her young son after being booted from Australian Idol.

Parker, who was voted off the Network Ten series on Monday, says she can't wait to get into writing, performing and touring and has no plans to head back to New Zealand anytime soon.

'I want to build up a future over here,' Parker, 23, told reporters.

'I really like Aussie, I believe that there's way more opportunity here and a good future here.'

Parker moved from the small town of Tuakau, in the north island, to Sydney just over six months ago, leaving behind her three-year-old son Hayzel, who is being cared for by her parents and her former partner.

'They're pretty much the ones that kind of kicked me out of the little town so I could come over here and give it a go,' she said.

'I've got great support I'm a lucky girl.

'He's got a lot of love - he's spoilt.'

Parker said she's managed to speak to her son every couple of days and will get to see him and her parents for two weeks over Christmas in Australia.

Beyond that, once she's in a routine and financially stable, she wants Hayzel to come over more permanently.

Parker decided to try out for Australian Idol at the last minute but didn't think she'd even make the top 100, let alone make the top nine.

'I definitely wanted to pursue a career in music but I didn't think I'd ever do Idol,' she said.

'I'm deeply honoured to be a part of it all.'

Parker urged wannabe New Zealand singers to audition for Idol next year.
