American Idol Outcast Threatened with Legal Action

Former Homeless Contestant Josiah Leming May Be Banned from Releasing Album. Wired PR News.com – Former American Idol contestant, Josiah Fleming, has recently been threatened with legal action regarding the release of his upcoming album. According to TV Guide, the 19 year-old has been accused of violating a contractual agreement with Idol producer’s 19 Entertainment, by signing with a label other than Sony/BMG.

Leming was the 25th Idol pick, not making it to the top chosen 24 his season. However, the teen’s personal story made him one of the season’s most memorable contestants, being homeless and having a mother with terminal cancer.

Some have stated the contract contestants are forced to sign is out of control by possibly limiting the success of contestants who may not make it to the American Idol finals, but are offered recording deals elsewhere.

A spokesperson for Leming has indicated he intends to continue with the release of his album stating “He has personal reasons for getting his music out, threat or not.”
