Ben Mulroney proposes to girlfriend at Montreal deli
A popular deli on Montreal's Greene Avenue now has a new claim to fame - the location of Canadian Idol host Ben Mulroney's recent engagement to clothing designer/fashion stylist Jessica Brownstein.
After knowing Brownstein since he was a teenager in Montreal's Westmount neighbourhood and dating for almost a year, Mulroney popped the question on Friday, Dec. 28.
The two were having lunch at Nick's deli, which was already a special place for both of them, when the host of CTV's "Canadian Idol" and "eTalk" suddenly got down on one knee.
It all happened very quickly, said to a server who was working at the time. No sooner had she heard Brownstein yell "yes, yes, yes!" than the two were out the door to share the news with their family and friends.
The couple then spent the entire weekend celebrating the good news.
It remains to be seen whether Nick's will go down in history for the occurrence, but Mulroney fans looking to replicate the experience are advised to order the bacon cheeseburger and the apple walnut salad.
