Holiday show says 'no thanks' to 'Idol' Sierra

The organizer of a concert billed as a holiday tribute to U.S. troops said yesterday that former American Idol finalist Jessica Sierra was disinvited from performing after her recent arrest.

But even if Sierra wanted to sing at the event Friday in Washington, she couldn't.

The 22-year-old is being held without bail at the Hillsborough County jail in Tampa, Fla., on charges of disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest. She is to remain there at least until her next hearing, scheduled Dec. 20.

In a brief phone interview Sunday, Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Buzz Patterson said patrons of MoveAmericaForward. org, which is coordinating the concert, were concerned about Sierra's participation in the event.

Sierra's attorney, John Fitzgibbons, declined to comment yesterday.

Sierra was taken into custody Dec. 1 after a fracas with Tampa police officers outside a nightclub.

See you in September
A San Francisco lawyer says he will represent Phil Spector in his retrial on a murder charge and that he could not be ready to proceed until September.

Doron Weinberg's proposed date for the new trial would put it exactly one year after the record producer's first one ended in a hung jury.

Weinberg told Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler on Friday that he needs five months to study 10,000 pages of transcripts from the first six-month trial as well as 35,000 pages of discovery provided by the prosecution. A mistrial was declared Sept. 26 when jurors could not agree whether he had shot actress Lana Clarkson in 2003.

Off the market
Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough is single no more. He wed his longtime girlfriend Saturday in his hometown of Orlando, Fla., the band's attorney confirmed.

Fellow Backstreet Boys band mates were in attendance as Dorough, 34, married Leigh Boniello at St. James Cathedral in a traditional Catholic ceremony, People and OK! magazines reported on their Web sites.

Georgia homecoming
Ray Charles is back in his hometown.

Albany, Ga., unveiled a revolving, lighted bronze statue of Charles on Friday in the middle of a new downtown plaza that bears the R&B legend's name.

Family members attended the musical ceremony honoring the city's most famous native son, born there in 1930.
