Edwardsville man insulted by Simon Cowell, booted from 'American Idol'
A 20-year-old man from Edwardsville was a short-lived contestant on “American Idol” Wednesday night.
Kyle Reinneck sang for almost 40 seconds before he was interrupted by judge Simon Cowell, and was told he would not invited to continue in the competition.
“Kyle, it was a very disturbing, slight demonic, I thought, audition,” Cowell said before Reinneck was bounced from the show. “Your face does a very, very weird thing when you sing, and your eyes, I thought, looked very menacing.”
Reinneck had a quick, if ineffective, reply.
“Well, I’ve heard them (characterized as) intense with it, but that’s my performance.”
Reinneck was wearing some kind of dark marterial around his eyes — he told the judges it was “guyliner” — and this morning he had 10 percent of the vote in a poll on the American Idol site for “the most bizarre tryout in Dallas.”
Reinneck's choice of music was "Never Again," written by Kelly Clarkson, the winner of the "American Idol" competition in its first season.
