COSIMA TO HIT THE GAY CIRCUIT
Why is Cosima De Vito loved by the gay community?
“I think it goes back to when I first shook my hips, wore hair extensions and a mini and sang Hot Stuff on Australian Idol,” she told SSO.
“When I get an opportunity like Sleaze Ball I will dress up and strut. I have a few gay male friends and I have the best time with them.”
This self-proclaimed fag hag will be heating up Oxford St over the Mardi Gras period with shows at Arq, Slide and Will and Toby’s.
In 2007, De Vito performed at World AIDS Day and at various clubs around the country. Her new album This Is Now has already been picked up by Melbourne gay radio station Joy FM.
On 18, 24 and 31 January, she’ll play at Slide and on 20 January, 7, 13 and 20 February at Will and Toby’s.
“I will be singing songs from the new album with my band and a few of my favorite covers,” De Vito said.
“I’m looking forward to performing at Slide and Will and Toby’s because the shows will be more intimate and personal.
“This album is more of a reflection of who I am and I am looking forward to sharing the meaning of some of the songs.”
On Sunday 27 January, she will also perform at Arq as part of the Australia Day celebrations.
“I will be performing Keep It Natural, Movin’ On and Woman in Chains from the album. My dancers and I will make you move. I’ll be wearing something sexy and glamorous,” she said.
With a court case going on behind the scenes and with another single coming out later in the year, 2008 is going to be a big one for the Australian Idol graduate.
“I would like to say Happy New Year to all Sydney Star Observer readers. Thank you for your fabulous support in 2007, and I hope to see you at one of my shows in 2008.”
