Kate DeAraugo Joins Jenny Craig!

Kate DeAraugo of the 'Australian Idol' spawned group The Young Divas has announced she has joined weight loss company Jenny Craig.

DeAraugo, who has always struggled with her weight, and been subjected to ridicule - especially from 'Idol' judge Kyle Sandilands, who controversially said she had "tuck-shop lady arms", will become a Celebrity Ambassador for Jenny Craig.

Kate said in a statement that she is thrilled with the partnership. "I am thrilled to be on the Jenny Craig program," DeAraugo said. "I joined after Christmas and looking forward to challenging myself in 2008 and getting a realistic approach on my weight management plan."

"My aim is to achieve my goal weight in under a year... (I really want) to learn how to manage my weight, be healthier and maintain my weight for the long term."

Kate said that this new campaign deals with the real issues surrounding over-weight people, including the need for realistic goals. It's about "discovering the real you and being the best you can be..., I thought I could help promote this healthier message to... not only my fans but to the younger generation out there."

The singer will be the star of a national marketing campaign advertising their 'Get Real' program.
