From Shower to Wowser!

Hundreds of Canadian Idol hopefuls are clamouring to canary for judges today.

Upwards of 600 singers showed up at Sunridge Mall yesterday to try out for the nationally broadcast talent-search program. Producers expect a similar number today.

Some had guitars in tow, while others opted to belt it out a cappella. Canadian Idol producer John Brunton said yesterday he auditioned at least four singers that he considered to have the chops to make it onto the Idol stage.

"I don't know what they put in the water out here. For some reason, Alberta produces phenomenal singers," he said.

Patrick Williamson, 18, and Tylor Vanriper, 16, had plenty of time to prepare on the three-hour drive to Calgary from Medicine Hat.
