American Idol: Rowlett High falls for Jason Castro
"If I Fell" may not have been the best song choice for Jason Castro as far as Randy and Simon are concerned, but according to some 200 friends and fans who gathered at Rowlett High School tonight for an Idol watch party, Jason continues to outperform the competition.
Rowlett students, many of whom know Jason personally - and others who only know him from the Idol stage - screamed at the mere mention of his name. Banners and posters and Jason Castro t-shirts filled the auditorium and hallways of Jason's alma mater. In the parking lot, car windows were painted with messages like "Vote 4 Dreads!" and "We love you, Jason Castro!"
The auditorium went crazy when Jason appeared on the big screen, but then the crowd quieted quickly; no one wanted to talk over the strum of his guitar or miss a single word from his lips. When Jason finished performing, the auditorium erupted into applause - people were standing on their chairs - waving banners - whistling - cheering...
Yes, Rowlett has fallen for Jason Castro, even though he doesn't live there any more. Even his friends and fans next door from Rockwall came out in support.
Neighborsgo editor Kandace Dodson and I did our best to capture all the love on film. Look for the video to come very soon!
