Idol alum Sharpe wins Ovation and opportunity
Canadian Idol alumni and Upper Island Cove native, Craig Sharpe has won the Ovation Star Search contest. Sharpe will now get to perform with Canadian super-producer and songwriter David Foster, at a star-studded gala in support of the David Foster Foundation.
Sharpe was selected by Foster, and a panel of judges, from a group of 10 finalists from six cities across Atlantic Canada and tonight will perform with the 42-times Grammy nominated musician as well as some other big names in music.
The stage is set at the Halifax convention centre, where people like Lionel Richie, Natalie Cole, and Kenneth Babyface Edmonds will perform at the fundraiser with the intend to raise more than any other Atlantic Canada event ever has.
Tonight’s gala was put together to raise more than $1 million for the David Foster Foundation, which helps families pay for non-medical expenses so children can have life-saving organ transplants.
