Cowell: 'Brits are out of touch'

Simon Cowell has accused the Brits of being out of touch for not giving an award to Leona Lewis.

The singer was nominated in four categories at February's ceremony but failed to walk away with a gong.

Cowell, who has been managing her career since she won The X Factor in 2006, told The Sun: "I don't like the Brits. They're too sarcastic. They don’t represent what’s right in Britain at the moment.

“Leona at the Brits tells you everything about the record business. I believe you should recognise and celebrate success. You don’t sneer at it and it doesn’t matter where that artist came from."

He added: "When your flagship awards show snubs someone like Leona they are out of touch."

He previously said he was relieved that she missed out on an award because it would stop success going to her head.
