Anne Murray to Guest Mentor and perform on Canadian Idol
Legendary songstress Anne Murray will take the stage to perform and mentor the competitors on Canadian Idol as they perform selections from her songbook during the Top 5 week.
Murray has sold more than 50 million albums and has received multiple Grammy, JUNO, and Country Music Association Awards in her 40-year career.
With such beloved hits as "A Little Good News," "You Needed Me," "Love Song," "Could I Have This Dance" and "Snowbird," Murray is known worldwide for her signature voice and her career continues to be the benchmark for longevity and professionalism.
Her latest CD, Anne Murray Duets: Friends & Legends, was certified Platinum in three weeks and double Platinum in six weeks. It was her highest album debut in over 20 years. She also recently completed a coast to coast Canadian tour and plans to release a special holiday album at the end of September.
"We have been trying to land Anne Murray for years and we are thrilled to finally have her join us," said Canadian Idol Executive Producer John Brunton, in a prepared release. "She is a true Canadian superstar and it will be a tremendous honour to have her mentor this year's finalists."
Murray will join an impressive list of musical guests to grace the Idol stage this summer, including Gavin Rossdale, who performed during Top 8 week, as well as Tom Jones, Bryan Adams and Simple Plan, with more still to be announced.
