Vietnam Idol to come to Hanoi on July 29

VietNamNet Bridge – After being postponed for a period of time, the 2nd Vietnam Idol competition will be resumed with the first qualifier round in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on July 23-24 and in Hanoi from July 29-31.

The winners of the qualifier round will enter the Theatre round. Passing the Theatre round, contestants will take part in the Studio round, in which they will sing a song for 1.5-2 minutes, accompanied by recorded music.

Beginning with the Studio round, contestants will be guided and supported by experts. The Theatre, Studio and Gala rounds will be organised over several months. The final night is scheduled for January 2009.

The first show of Vietnam Idol 2008 will be aired live on HTV7 channel of the HCM City Television Station at 21.30pm, September 3.

According to organisers, the second Vietnam Idol will be organised on a larger scale and be more professional than the first. The contest will be a chance for young people between the ages of 16-30 who love music and believe in their ability to show-off their talent.

The second Vietnam Idol winner will receive a special prize worth $10,000: a recording contract and $5,000 in cash.

The art council of the competition will include singer Siu Black, songwriter Ho Hoai Anh, composer and saxophone player Tran Manh Tuan.
