No Hard Feelings Between Paula Abdul And Kara DioGuardi
In spite of Internet reports and rumors, Paula Abdul is not at all objecting to “American Idol’s” decision of bringing a fourth judge in the show, songwriter Kara DioGuardi.
Paula Abdul, who has been an “American Idol” judge for more than seven seasons now, told PEOPLE magazine on Monday that a new girl joining the team made her very happy. “It’s about time another girl joined,” she said at the U.S. Open opening night celebration in Flushing, New York. “More girl power,” she added.
In addition to this, in an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM show, Paula said she was very excited about the fact that the 37-year-old songwriter joined Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and her.
Paula Abdul explained in the interview that she and Kara met outside a restaurant in New York, when the latter was still working at “Billboard” magazine. “[Kara] was my roommate! And I took her all around the world with me and introduced her to wonderful people…She stayed in Sweden and wrote with these people and got started living her dream,” Paula Abdul told Ryan Seacrest.
So things are not at all frosty between the two “American Idol” female judges.
However, initial Internet reports talked about a clash between the duo, as Paula Abdul, 46, told Phoenix’s 104.7 KISS FM Johnjay & Rich radio show on Monday that she was a bit concerned about the new situation.
“I am concerned about the audience and acceptance. Time will tell. We’ll see,” she said in the interview. She added that “American Idol’s” producers hired the songwriter because they “wanted to try a change.”
Nonetheless, things look good for the new talent show squad, as Grammy-nominated Kara DioGuardi seems to have integrated swiftly in the judge-family.
