New 'Susan Boyle' stuns X Factor judges

A young singer with Asperger's syndrome has wowed the judging panel of The X Factor, a report claims.

Sources are claiming that 21-year-old Scott James, who has rarely ventured outside his front door, is set to become the next Susan Boyle.

Dannii Minogue told The Sun that the shy singer had amazed Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh with his audition performance of "You Raise Me Up".

Dannii said: "You will not believe his performance when you see it. He told us that because of his Asperger's syndrome and the fact he'd been picked on, he hadn't left the house in years.

"But he just stood there calmly and told us that his singing teacher had been helping him to build his confidence."

She added: "Then he started singing."

Scott, who made it through to the last 50 singers in this year's show, finds it difficult to interpret other people's facial expressions and body language.

Simon Cowell halted auditions to go backstage and congratulate the singer.

Scott's vocal coach Linzi Hunter said: "The audience went nuts after his performance and Simon called me up on stage to speak about Scott and his singing.

"After that he came backstage and shook our hands and said how brilliant Scott was.

"He did seem quite concerned about Scott and asked me how I thought he would cope if he got further into the competition."

She added: "But Scott has just taken it all in his stride."
