Kelly Clarkson to perform on Australian Idol

IN 2005 she was too cool to perform on Australian Idol, but two years on and pop star Kelly Clarkson has finally agreed to sing on the international TV franchise that propelled her to superstardom.

In Sydney this weekend to flog her third album, My December, the Grammy Award-winning singer is on track to perform the hit single Never Again on Australian Idol this Monday night.

It was a case of never again for Clarkson and Idol during her last trip to Oz, when - on the advice of her management - the singer refused to appear on the talent show in a bid to shake off her American Idol tag and focus on "credibility".

Having since won two Grammys and gone multi platinum, Clarkson is now all that and more - and clearly comfortable with her Idol background.
