Melbourne's Natalie Gauci ready for Australian Idol final
MELBOURNE'S Natalie Gauci is revving up for Sunday's Aussie Idol finale in Sydney, but admits she's been finding the last weeks tough far from home.
THE Australian Idol winner's song, Here I Am, is not one that either of the finalists would normally release, according to the two singers.
"It's so far away from what I would release or write, but I have to cop it on the chin - it's part of the competition," Matt Corby told Confidential yesterday.
Corby was talking from the Sydney Opera House with Victorian Natalie Gauci, as the two prepared for Sunday night's performance show.
Gauci, 23, whose parents own the Golden Tower restaurant in Swanston St, said she was aching for her family and friends back home in Melbourne.
"The last couple of weeks have been very emotional for me," she said.
"I don't really know anyone in Sydney so it's a little like a foreign city.
"I've been on my own in the house a lot."
Gauci has gigged around Melbourne for a few years, her first show at De Beers in the city.
She used to work at a hairdressing salon in the Box Hill mall and went to high school at Emmaus College in Vermont South, before completing her VCE at Box Hill TAFE.
