Civic reception held for Leon in honour of X Factor success
X FACTOR winner Leon Jackson has been treated to a civic reception in honour of his success.
The 19-year-old, whose single is still number one in the charts, was accompanied by his mum Wendy to the event hosted by West Lothian Council on Saturday.
Friends, pupils and staff from Whitburn Academy, Leon's old school, joined in the celebrations at the Hilcroft Hotel in Whitburn.
Council leader Peter Johnston and Provost Tom Kerr hosted the event, and Mr Kerr presented Leon with a photo montage illustrating his journey from school through to his X Factor success.
Afterwards, Leon thanked all the guests for their support.
"I had a fantastic night," he said. "I would like to thank West Lothian Council for organising the reception, and for their kind gifts for my mum, gran and myself.
"It was great to be back home and catch up with friends and family. Many people have supported me and the reception was an opportunity for me to catch up with them and thank them personally.
"I am heading off to London soon but I will never forget the support that I have received from the people of West Lothian."
Provost Kerr said: "He is a genuine and talented young man, and he is a fantastic ambassador for West Lothian."
