Oscars 2008: Simon Cowell - I didn’t want to go to the snobby Oscars
Simon Cowell has said he was more than happy to attend Elton John’s Oscars Viewing Party than attend the main event at the Kodak Theatre.
The American Idol judge was joined at the event by a number of top stars - including Kate Beckinsale, Sean Combs, Mary J Blige and Portia De Rossi with last year’s ceremony host Ellen DeGeneres - but he insists the party didn’t feel like a consolation prize.
He explained: “I have nothing to do with the Oscars - and nor do I want to.”
“They think I’m the Antichrist. They don’t like us TV people to be part of it - it’s ridiculous. It reeks of snobbery.”
“I hate the whole movie industry. It’s so stuck up I can’t bear it.”
