Frenchified "Michelle"
Personal note during the commercial break: all these Beatles songs are good for me, because I know and love them. On other “American Idol” programs, I was frantic half the time trying to figure out what the heck they were singing. My daughters saved me from completely garbling “Tobacco Road.”
Last week Syesha performed first on the program, which might have hurt her chances. This week she’s in the second half of the program, which may or may not make a difference.
Now Jason Castro,, “the man with the dreads,” who is striking-looking. Blue eyes and dreads. He’ll sing “Michelle,” with French-fried lyrics and all. He goes with a breathy tone and then mocks himself going through the French, which is either charming or annoying.
The judges find him … charming. Randy found him “subdued.” Paula thinks he has a “distinct charm,” but was “disconnected.” Simon uses my word – “charming” – to describe how his smile sold the song.
There’s a glimpse of Syesha before the commercial. My daughters notes the cleavage, too: “she needs the votes.”
