American Idol tryouts in Utah this week

(KSL News) So, you think you've got what it takes to be the next American Idol? Well, now's your chance. The American Idol tryouts are in Utah.

Hopefuls started lining up today to get wristbands for Tuesday's audition. Julie Olson told us, "Dude, I want to be the next American Idol. I'm going to be the next American Idol."

Hundreds of people stood in line today to register for their shot with at least 10 seconds in front of the Idol judges. Each hopeful has to pre-register at EnergySolutions Arena, where they'll get a wristband, application and ticket.

Another hopeful, Laura Smith, said, "I did a lot in high school, and I have some vocal training. I actually, I got into a school in New York when I was in high school. But I haven't done anything since high school, so we'll see."

Hopefuls can register through tomorrow. Then they'll be back Tuesday morning at 5:00 to wait in line to sing.
