Moyo crowned Idols winner

IT was all tears of joy on Saturday evening at the Bomas in Nairobi, Kenya, as Africa voted Zimbabwean Eric Moyo to be Africa’s Idol and he walked away with cash and prizes worth over US$150 000.
Although the reality show took place on Saturday, it was shown on M-Net last night.
Moyo, a Bulawayo-based up-and-coming musician could not believe it when fellow Zimbabwean, Lebogang Mzwimbi, who was the host and presenter of the Idols, looked him in the eyes and told him that he had won the competition and that US$80 000 would be coming his way.
He also walked away with US$25 000 in guaranteed album sales from Celtel and a recording deal through Sony BMG, a Plasma Tv set, DVD player, vouchers and other prizes from M-Net.
Uganda’s Nicollette Kiige who was in the running for the big prize said she was happy for Moyo whom she described as a brother.
The A-Academy finalist has managed to raise the country’s flag high by being the first Zimbabwean to win the top prize of an M-Net-run competition.
A-Academy is a local reality show.
