Describe your feelings at your first audition.
I was so nervous once I got to sing in front of the judges. It definitely gets easier as you go along.
Obviously, it’s important to have a strong voice, but what other aspects give a performer ‘star quality’? Please explain your answer.
I think that stage presence is a major factor in a brilliant performance. That alone will make people sit up and take notice.
What would you call your debut single?
Geez…life in the real world! So many people in the cities are so detached from reality, so caught up in their own life. I’ll teach them how to smile and relax.
Why do you think Australian Idol is an important part of our local music industry?
It gives another opportunity for performers to break into mainstream.
Which artist (dead or alive) would you most like to perform a duet with and why?
I would have loved to [have] performed with Jimi Hendrix or Eva Cassidy. They were both amazing pioneers in their fields and have been an inspiration to many a musician.
What’s the best thing about being on Australian Idol?
The peek that we all get on how a live show is run. I had no idea that there are hundreds of people working on set, behind the scenes at a time.
Who is your favourite judge and why?
I think they all have brilliant qualities and have many different aspects to look at us. Kyle: Media side. Marcia: Musician and Performing and ‘Dicko’: Record company.
Please complete this sentence: The one thing I want Australia to know about me is…
…that I love country music and I can’t wait to show you guys what I do!
What’s the best piece of advice someone has given you?
My partner told me before I got here to take it all in. He was so right! So far this has been an amazing ride. So many emotions all in one day, especially during the top 40/50.
