X Factor's Austin denies gay claims
The X Factor's Austin has set the record straight after a gay website 'outed' him at the weekend.
Austin, 22, told The Daily Star that, while he is delighted to have a gay fanbase, he is not gay and has a girlfriend.
The X Factor finalist said: "I am sorry to disappoint but I am not gay. But I am very flattered to have a gay fan base.
"And I appreciate all the support I have been getting while on The X Factor."
Austin gained a gay following when he appeared on the E4 show Boys Will Be Girls two years ago in which he was challenged to perform in drag with two other men as a 'girlband' called The Honey Trapz in an attempt to fool music bosses.
Gay website DNA posted topless modelling photos of Austin at their weekend on their Sunday Hotness page.
DNA wrote: "Multimedia star from the UK, Austin Drage appeared in the Guy Ritchie movie Snatch as well as on TV in Casualty and The Bill.
"Openly gay, his main love is music. And he appeared for a time as part of the band 5Boyz."
While gay fans have left floods of supportive messages for Austin, he said he felt he should speak out against the claims.
