"American Idol" Will Return For Eighth Season In January

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Fans of Fox's "American Idol" will be pleased to know that the eighth season of the hit singing reality show will return January 13.

The show has not only been a major ratings hit for the network, but has produced singers with staying power such as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and David Cook.

"American Idol" will kick things up a notch this year by adding a fourth judge. Singer-songwriter Kara DioGuardi will join Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul.

Fox has also announced other lineup changes including a move for "House," starring Hugh Laurie as physician Gregory House. The show was airing on Tuesdays but will move to 8 p.m. EST Monday starting January 19.

Also shifting time slots will be "Bones," moving to 8 p.m. EST Thursday as of January 15; the game show "Hole in the Wall," which will air back-to-back episodes at 7 p.m. EST Sunday, starting January 18; and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," to 8 p.m. EST Friday, starting February 13.

Fox will also debut a new crime drama called "Lie to Me," which has earned the much-coveted spot following the Wednesday results episode of "American Idol." The drama starring Tim Roth will premiere 9 EST p.m. EST Wednesday, January 21.
