"X Factor" too strong for Kylie Minogue's "X"
LONDON (Reuters) - Kylie Minogue's first album in four years missed the top spot on Sunday after "X Factor" talent show winners took the first two places, the Official UK Charts Company said.
"Spirit" from last year's "X Factor" queen Leona Lewis remained at number one for a third week, while the ITV show's 2005 champion Shayne Ward shot straight to number two with his new release "Breathless".
Lewis also continued to reign supreme in the singles charts, where her "Bleeding Heart" -- the year's biggest seller -- was number one for the sixth week in a row.
Minogue had to be content with number four for "X", the 39-year-old Australian singer's first album since she recovered from her 2005 fight against breast cancer.
Tickets for her British tour dates next July go on sale on Monday, while fans are also looking forward to her appearance in the Christmas edition of BBC's Dr Who science fiction drama.
Reformed boy band Westlife slipped one place to third with "Back Home".
Californian rockers the Eagles were one position stronger at five with "Long Road Out Of Eden", their first studio album since 1979.
Amy Winehouse, who this week cancelled all her remaining concerts for this year saying she could not perform while her husband remained in custody, saw her album "Back to Black" return to the top ten.
The best-selling album climbed three places to number nine after 57 weeks in the charts. Continued...
