Canadian Idol now includes video auditions

t's a step forward for inclusion and good news for anyone who nervously botched their in-person audition.

On the other hand, it might be sour news for people who already lined up for hours.

As of yesterday and up until April 25, the search for the next Canadian Idol has moved into cyberspace.

Having wrapped up its series of coast-to-coast, in-person auditions, CTV announced yesterday that Canadian Idol will accept video auditions for this brief period. Video tryouts can be uploaded at idol.CTV.ca.

If you already have been awarded a "gold ticket" for the "top 100," you can't be pleased that the dude who was too freaked out to perform under pressure, or your neighbour who was too lazy to line up, just became eligible again. But executive producer John Brunton said yesterday that Canadian Idol philosophically leans strongly toward inclusion rather than exclusion.
