‘American Idol’ Winner Kris Allen Gets Record Deal

Kris Allen, the winner of ‘American Idol’ season eight has recently signed a deal with the Universal Music Publishing Group that will exclusively feature all of compositions.
Allen had previously released a 2009 album through Jive Records that was widely received by online fans. The 24 year old Arkansas native has an impressive resume that includes song composition, amazing vocals, and the ability to play a variety of instruments including a variety of guitars, keyboards, drums, the viola, and the piano.
Allen’s debut album release includes the hit song “Live Like We’re Dying” as well as the song “No Boundaries”.
Allen is not the first ‘Idol’ contestant to land a recording deal after the obligatory ‘Idol’ recording contract. Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, and Chris Daughtry are the most recognizable and famed former ‘American Idol’ contestants. Other ‘Idol’ contestants to see fame on a smaller scale are Taylor Hicks, Fantasia, Ruben Studdard, Tamyra Gray, Eliott Yamin, and Bo Bice.
Music wasn’t the only next step for some ‘Idol’ contestants. Former contestants Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini starred in a feature film. Ruben Studdard performed in a popular children’s movie. Nikki McKibbin and Tamyra Gray made appearances in several popular television shows.
