Danny & Ramie show
MANILA, Philippines—The “C” hand signal that Filipino-American Top 10 finalist Ramiele Malubay flashed for Danny Noriega when he was ejected from “American Idol” stands for corazon— Spanish for “heart.”
Danny revealed this in a phone interview with journalists from around the world arranged by Star World, which airs the popular talent search in Asia.
“It’s a cute little half-heart thing that we just do,” he explained, referring to Ramiele as his “best friend” in the show. On the “American Idol” website are various photos of the two hugging and goofing around.
“We became really close at the end of Hollywood week,” Danny said. “We have a lot in common. She’s my twin and I love her.”
Clearly, the feeling is mutual. When he got the boot three weeks ago, Ramie, as host Ryan Seacrest calls her, turned on the waterworks.
Seeing his BFF in tears, Danny also ended up weeping buckets.
Contestant Kady Malloy, voted off the same week as Danny, was also close to the Fil-Am finalist. “We’re the little ‘Charlie’s Angels’ of the group,” Danny said of their triumvirate. “We do the same things. We talk the same way. We all have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder).”
On a recent performance night, Danny joined Ramie’s parents in the audience, all of them in T-shirts with her picture. He’s now officially a member of Team Ramie.
