Please complete this sentence: ‘I first realised I wanted to become a professional singer when…’ I saw my first Grammy Awards Ceremony! I was still so young (10 I think), naïve and I felt a vibe, a vision, a dream. Michael Jackson was performing and the effect he had on the crowd and world made me want to become a professional singer.

What is your favourite song? Please tell us why you love that particular song.
Billie Jean – Michael Jackson. I love the song because no matter where you are in the world, if the song gets played, the feet move and the body grooves! It’s got the funkiest bass line of all time and the vocal is so true to the song. What a cracker!!!

Which previous finalist do you find most inspiring and why?
Guy Sebastian - he is inspiring because he is hard working, super-talented, real, is a great song-writer, a true musician rather than just a singer. He is also so humble in his success and has a wide audience appeal. Go Guy!

Describe your feelings at your first audition.
First audition was difficult. Sitting in the room with so many people, all nervous and anxious. I felt a sense of excitement, fear, nervousness, tension and when I performed I wanted to give it my all and sing as though it was the last time I was ever going to sing and it worked! I got through and carried on like an incense!

Obviously, it’s important to have a strong voice, but what other aspects give a performer ‘star quality’? Please explain your answer.
Star quality is about being real and open. I think an artist/performer is a star when they stay true to themselves, are able to make people feel things that they are afraid to feel and can change lives. Also, humility, concern for others, ability to mentor people and have positivity in life are great “star” qualities. Also, being a great songwriter and just singer.

What would you call your debut single?
“Nothing’s Impossible” – I think the title is so reflective of the Idol journey and the fact that dreams can come true if you believe and find the truth/passion in ourselves.

Why do you think Australian Idol is an important part of our local music industry?
Aussie Idol is the only platform in Australia that gives aspiring singers the opportunity to showcase their talent. It’s so important that the show continues so that we can all learn how the industry works and for there to be hope for all of us. It is a difficult industry to break and it is an amazing opportunity to launch a successful career.

Which artist (dead or alive) would you most like to perform a duet with and why?
Definitely Michael Jackson. He has changed the face of pop music in a way that no one will ever do. He is an amazing singer, musician, dancer/performer, His ability to connect through his music is second to none – would love to sing “Billy Jean” with him or an original!! John Farnham’s the other one – he is the VOICE, an aussie hero.

What’s the best thing about being on Australian Idol?
The best thing is meeting the amazingly talented, gifted, genuine people with whom you build life-long relationships. The journey that I’ve been through has needed support and love and those moments of elation and emotion are forever ingrained. Also, just learning about the industry, TV and what it’s like to work in the music business.

Who is your favourite judge and why?
Kyle – he is just real and says things the way that they are without any BS! Kyle has really supported me and given some amazing feedback and I really appreciate it!! Keep the cool vibes going! Oh – he dresses a little more classy for!!!! I can relate to that!!! Dicko and Marcia – you guys rock too haha!!!

Please complete this sentence: The one thing I want Australia to know about me is…
That I am a level headed, honest, centred, individual who is passionate about representing Australia and loves to sing and share his emotions and love to everyone! What you see is what you get – nothing more, nothing less! I want to help, mentor and inspire all to achieve their dreams!

What’s the best piece of advice someone has given you?
Be true to yourself and allow things to happen – Don’t ever fake things as you must let go of your ego and pride in order to listen to the child inside.

  2. IDOL 2008 is becoming more interesting. . .unfortunate for some talented semi-finalists not being voted . . . although there is this WILD card (4 will be back soon). . .there are some really good ones that may not have a chance again !!!

    Good Luck to everyone !

It's too early to say but a couple of my favourites are:

    * Thanh
    * Sophie (Hope she gets in via Wild Card)

They reminded me of Guy S. being so versatile !!!!
