TV’s Ben Mulroney at FutureWorx expo
TRURO – Fresh from his red carpet assignment at the Oscars, e-Talk Daily and Canadian Idol host Ben Mulroney is coming to Truro.
Mulroney is scheduled as one of the guest speakers at a skills development and employment expo being held Wednesday at FutureWorx in Truro.
FutureWorx administrative assistant Christa Giddens said one of the expo's aim's is to encourage younger people to seek employment in the Truro area and Mulroney was selected to speak because of his wide appeal to young audiences.
“He’s very enthusiastic,” she said, of his participation in the expo, especially given his hectic schedule around the ongoing Canadian Idol auditions. “We just lucked out,” she said, of being able to book Mulroney during his day off.
Also appearing, will be motivational speaker Tyler Hayden. As one who is afflicted by Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, participants can expect a high-energy presentation, Giddens said.
“He’s inspiring people to overcome obstacles in life.”
The event is free to participants and is scheduled to run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Nova Scotia Community College in Truro.
Partnered by the Colchester Regional Development Agency, the Nova Scotia Community College and FutureWorx, the expo will include opportunities to network with more than 50 exhibitors, including employers who have jobs to offer.
Besides employment and skills development opportunities, participants can learn such things as how to access services and tools to assist in job searches and making contacts.
Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. For more information call 895-2837.
